Community Tasting Notes 20

  • PacoHigon Likes this wine:

October 7, 2022 - Pop and pour, drank half the bottle over 2 hours. This wine tastes like what it is - a Cote du Rhone made by Charvin. It isn't as elevated their CDP, and it has the mellow Charvin profile.

August 15, 2022 - What a difference two years have made for this wine. Found it monolithic and a bit flat two years ago, but it has really come around. It's still a touch on the big side for my preferences but is generally a much more pleasant drink than it was the last time I tasted it. My last bottle, but from this showing I'd expect the best is yet to come, though it is drinking quite well now.

April 18, 2022 - 14% alcohol. Good cork with very little wine penetration. Medium colour with some thinning at the rim.
Rich nose with lightly stewed red fruit and some spice, with a definite southern character, but nothing overdone. Opulent in the mouth and highly seductive but with reasonable grip due to acidity in the finish (as well as a slight bitter note).
This wine could pass for a Vacqueyras.
    A repeat purchase.

March 8, 2022 - I love this wine and have enjoyed many bottles over the years and agree with all those who say it’s as good as most “average” Chateauneuf-du-Papes out there, but this 2017 wasn’t there for me tonight. Character, yes, but just not a lot depth. Maybe it was one of those “root days”.
