May 10, 2020 - 2016 Château Mont-Redon Châteauneuf-du-Pape was generous, layered and balanced. The youthful Châteauneuf-du-Pape was clear and medium purple in colour without any sediments. Profound aromatics of ripe red cherries and cranberries was followed by vanilla, liqourice and herbs in floral undertones. Over five hours of in-bottle aeration, notes of blackcurrant, violet, graphite and rushed rock minerality intensified. The mouthfeel was dry and full-bodied, with medium levels of balanced acidity and elegant finely grained tannin. Flavours of ripe red fruits, violets and black olives expanded on the palate, and led to a long balanced mineral-driven aftertaste. The ripeness was without jamminess, wonderfully balanced by the fresh acidity, floral complexity and stony minerality. While it is irresistible in its youth with proper aeration, it is capable of ageing in the next ten years.

May 10, 2020 - Popped a 375ml. Quick decant for an hour or so.

Young, but drinks well. Some dark berries and spice. Tannins present, but not drying.

Good wine, probably with some upside. 92-93+

February 24, 2020 - Forward and already a pleasure to drink, the wine is all about its kirsch, spicy dark cherry, thyme and earthy garrigue core on the nose and palate. Elegantly styled, with plenty of sweet, ripe, red fruits in the finish, you should be able to enjoy this over the next 12-15 years with ease.

November 29, 2019 - A blend of primarily Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, this fresh red berry, cherry, and raspberry scented Châteauneuf-du-Pape is full-bodied with lovely aroma replays plus spice and licorice flavours. Some stony mineral notes arrive on the mid-palate. Acids are fresh and well-balanced while tannins have some structure. Poised, persistent finish with excellent length.

November 27, 2019 - Open, red berry nose with clay and sweet spice notes. Ripe, broad palate; big and warming with a well-balanced finish.
