October 15, 2015 - Some Minnows and Bigger Fish from the Northern Rhône (Arlequin Wines, San Francisco): Red core with lighter edge. VA aromas. Light bodied, prickly, and sour. Way past it, but what did you expect from a 15 year old Côtes du Rhône?

March 12, 2013 - Great nose of dark cherries, berries and ripe plum. There's almost no sign of bottle age here, despite the fact that the wine is now 13 years old! On the palate you can definitely tell the wine's age. The fruit is almost gone, but still reverberates in the aftertaste. Aromas are made up by peppers, spices and a certain herbaciousness. You can still tell the origin of the wine given that it still shows the typical Rhône-Syrah aromas. On the finish the wine seems rather thin and haggard with an intensly spiking acidity. This sure is interesting, should have been drunk a while ago though.

February 7, 2011 - 5-6 years ago, this was the most acidic red I had ever encountered - it was like green olive juice. Not anymore... much mellowed, a lot of very fine sediment, almost balanced, mature syrah, some iron-sanguine qualities, citrus, some green olive without being overwhelming. Can't say this does not have character.

September 30, 2006 - Dark dark garnet color, very little sediment.
Think dark fruit, earthy, smoky tobacco flavors, and very tart, lemony flavors. I don't mind high acid too much, and I got maybe just a hint of brett, but into the second glass, the acidity was getting to my tongue. I don't remember previous bottles coming across as acidic, so either there is variation as some have suggested, or the bigger fruit flavors helped balance the wine.

June 20, 2005 - Promising nose of classic syrah--bright, dark fruits, peppery and spicy, but everything on the palate was overwhelmed by scorching acidity. I also got notes of black olive and roasted herbs, with some dark berry, but this was disjointed and way out of balance. I've given up on Texier's wines, as there is just too much bottle variation--some bright, clean & beautiful, others of the same vintage and village murk yand bretty, or overly acidic, like this one.
