Community Tasting Notes 5

December 14, 2019 - No notes - sipped it while walking the Lights in the Heights.
One of the best QPR Burgundy's in the market. Vibrant, structured and enjoyable with some serious yet restrained tannin.

February 21, 2019 - Surprisingly good, with red fruit, herbs, some earth and quite a few minerals. It drank older to me than its 2015 vintage. (I did taste the end of the bottle). Perhaps even better with 1-2 years more in bottle.

    $28 at this tasting.

January 5, 2019 - Pleasant. Quite fresh but plump and fleshy in the palate with ripe red fruits. Simple finish.

Fairly light and easy and rather rustic
This would be a great generic Bourgogne, I guess I was expecting just a tad more from a VV villages wine

September 20, 2018 - A private dinner (Restaurant The Beehive, White Waltham, UK): From an estate now owned by Crédit Agricole, and the largest producer in the appellation. Minor Burgundies are often much improved in a warm vintage like 2015, and this Mercurey is no exception. It rests on an earthy, mineral core, but the fruit is a little riper and spicier than usual, and there seems to be a stalky freshness and energy. Slightly lactic, juicy but grippy, good length. There is a whiff of volatility to this serious red Burgundy, but I do not consider it unpleasant.
