March 24, 2022 - Not every meal requires an expensive bottle of wine. That’s why a CBC (Canadian Broadcast Corporation for non-Canadians) radio show in 2018 on wines under $10 CAD intrigued me.
Wine Master Barb Philip suggested this wine among several others. I figured why not try a few since it’s not a particularly big investment.
This bottle ended up being a decent pairing tonight with a Chef’s Plate Spanish-Style Steak meal kit. It definitely needs the right food. The tannins cut through the rich spices. It has a very long finish with notes of cherries and plums.
Am I going to serve it to wine snob deKerf?!? Probably not. But this utilitarian wine served a purpose paired with an inexpensive dinner featuring tastes of Spain.
