Community Tasting Notes 4

December 20, 2019 - The dress is pure and crystalline, the color is light straw yellow. At the uncorking, the nose is mineral & chalky. A long aeration allows it to round and become completely expressive: yellow citrus, melted butter, fresh cream, a touch of almonds and some white flowers. The nose is a «Meursault» waltz. In the mouth it's the aromatic opulence, the generosity and the pretty fat that mark me. To the expressive fruit we add a touch of honey, buttered pastry, pretty peppers and spices. The power is perfectly balanced by the great freshness and the beautiful tonicity. The saline finish excites the taste buds. Persistence is probably a bit short but let's not forget that this is a generic Burgundy wine… We want to keep tasting it. It’s really good. A nice gastronomic wine (should not be served as an aperitif in my opinion) to buy with your eyes closed!

August 31, 2019 - The 2016 Francois Mikulski Bourgogne Chardonnay was fermented in oak barrels. It offers a creamy citrus and pear fruit nose, mellow. Good volume and texture for a Bourgogne Blanc but lacking some fruit concentration like many 2016 whites. An uncomplicated Bourgogne Blanc, simple. (81/100)

December 27, 2018 - Clean, precise Chardonnay from one of my favourite newfound producers (for me, that is), a wine that shows effortless elegance well beyind its price point. The blanc half of the Mikulski’s Bourgogne level offerings follows suit with their Pinot; high quality fruit (in this case from vineyards just on the borders of Meusault), excellent minimal invervention winemaking, and QPR in spades! The wine finds the perfect middle ground between too austere or rich, balancing out lovely lemon curd, creamy fruit yogurt, and toasty coconut with lively citrus, apple, peach, and white pepper. Touches of peach, green melon, honey, and mild herbaciousness help round things out nicely; ample but well integrated acid keeps each sip fresh (and the sipper wanting more!). I’m excited for the years to come when I’ll open up the Meursault waiting in my cellar, but in the meantime im happy grabbing every last bottle of these I can find!
