Popped and poured, drunk over three days. Clear, deep golden color. Clean, medium intense, developing nose. Orange zests, some floral notes, ripe stone fruit. Deep, warm and concentrated.
This is a wine you should enjoy with food (cheese, rich sauces etc.). Due to the warm vintage it is bold and partially hot. I enjoyed it with dinner, but later without food it showed the lack of acidity and the 13,5% abv were unpleasantly hot. Nevertheless it is very round, creamy and balanced with some nice warm stone fruit and a lovely mineral core. Long, fruity/zesty finish. 89-90

August 29, 2015 - Opened by Vino Me as part of a three-bottle 2003 Weingut Knoll horizontal. Opens with notes of pit fruit and papaya with diesel undertones. Mineral, stone and stone fruit flavors but lacking acidity, this comes across as flabby.

July 28, 2009 - Reif auf den Punkt. Nicht langweilig, sondern mit frischer Säure ausgestattet; Bouquet mit reifen Äpfeln, am 2. Tag Birne, viel Mineralik, Kräuternoten. Am Gaumen Harmonie zwischen Frucht und Mineralik, sehr langer Abgang. Spannende Entwicklung am Abend; es kommt immer mehr Tiefe! Erstaunlich wenig Reifenoten; hat noch Entwicklungspotential.
April 15, 2007 - Occasional tasting group: Top Austria (@ JdZ): Flowers and apples in the bouquet. This comes back in the taste together with pleasant fresh acidity. The finish is a little drying with a hint of sweetness.
July 6, 2006 - Gold color. Fantastic nose of green apple, perfumed lavender. On the palate, it tasted more like a viognier than a riesling. Very ripe, with peach, pineapple, and caramel corn flavors. Round finish. Borderline off-dry. A nice wine, but probably a little overdone due to a hot season.
July 6, 2006 - I bought this recently for $17 marked down from the normal price of $45. I opened this at our house for a 10th annivesary dinner that we had with few CWM. The theme was 'Wines from estates that we visited'. We visited Knoll in 2005. This wine had a beautiful nose filled with floral scents. It was a dry wine but did have a litlle residual sugar that was made more noticeable by the richness of this wine. On the palate the wine was very ripe with notes of apple and minerals. Well balanced. 91-92 points.
