September 18, 2021 - Brad's Belated Big 6-0 Birthday Celebration (Brad & Marcia's Place, St. Paul, MN): Very dark red color. Splash double decanted, drank a glass over an hour. Still a bit reticent on the nose, dried herbs, cigar, black raspberry, cassis. The palate is bigger and keeps building, deep and layered with cassis, dark berries, bold wood spices and minerality, dense and full bodied. 93+pts.

September 18, 2021 - My first ever '83 from Ducru- Beaucaillou and it did not disappoint! This arrived in very nice shape with still intriguing fruit but also plenty of aged depth and secondary notes. Elegant, resolved & still plenty left in the tank, with this btl at least. It sounds like others have had mixed results lately. Not the case tonight anyway. Loved the signature Ducru cigar box. If I'd known 10yrs ago what I know now about aged BDX I'd own at least 50 more btls. Especially more btls from Ducru who always seems to drink like a top 5 producer.

September 11, 2021 - Mellow, fully resolved, red fruit, ginger, loamy, touch of brett. This is fine, but it’s not representative of the extreme cleanliness, vigor, and precision of Ducru-Beaucaillou under the aegis of Bruno Borie - even if difficult vintages.

May 19, 2021 - Dark ruby, surprisingly sprightly for a 1983! Nice clean cork too. There isn't a lot of complexity in the nose, but hey there's a good amount of fruit woohoo! The tannins have melted away, and the alcohol is probably up there somewhere in the thin air above Everest. So all that's left is sweet dark berries and 28 years of someone else's patience (which seems to have added a hint of sweet floral perfume). Thanks for the bottle PH
