February 26, 2024 - Continues to drink very well- served at a dinner party so no real notes. 92+/-

January 10, 2024 - Lovely fruit up front, with nice structure in support. Delicious.

  • tward Likes this wine: 91 points

    November 11, 2023 - Excellent
Subtle cedar, some damp pine forest floor with sunshine on it, some pencil lead, faint notes of exotic spices, some cassis and blackberry.

Worked well with grilled flank steak.

Nice QPR at $20 USD purchased five years ago.

14.5% abv. I'd have guessed just under 14%.

October 21, 2023 - Pop and pour. Quite lovely. Nice earthy bordeaux with juicy firm currant and black plum fruit. Dry tannins, medium acidity and medium bodied. Just made for food. Initial reaction is that this is a solid 90 pointer and great value.

July 1, 2023 - This sounds like the second wine for Chateau Clotte but I'm pretty sure it's the first wine of its own Chateau. Both are mostly Merlot with some Cab Franc but CC has a little CS in it and this just has more CF. By coincidence I had '15 Chateau Clotte a couple nights ago so it's a Clotte throwdown. Both wines are drinking at 92 pts. today but CC has a long life ahead of it and should still improve while this wine is probably already at peak. However, this bottle costs 70% less so I'm anointing it the winner unless money is no object.

Cassis, parchment, graphite, subtle cedar, subtle herbs, sous bois, charcoal. Killer value at $20 and unlikely to improve, so drink! Another win for value Bordeaux.
