February 26, 2024 - Nice wine but oak is a bit heavy handed for my tastes.
February 11, 2024 - Big and fruit forward as expected. Enjoyed over several days and it held up well.
January 7, 2024 - Medium(+) ruby, translucent and vibrant. Upon opening aromas dominated by vanilla and cocos/sunscreen later supplemented with blackberry, tobacco licorice, and smoked red peppers. Dry, medium-medium(+) acidity, medium soft tannin high alcohol @16% abv and full body. Palate follows nose with vanilla, black and red cherry, milk chocolate, grilled meat. Suave velvety texture, rich with long slick and warm finish supported by good dollop of acidity. Lovely, big and bold and very drinkable.
With turkey mole this is an absolute winner!
October 3, 2023 - Best showing yet. Fruit forward and oak is well integrated. Should continue to drink well for another 4-5 years.
September 11, 2023 - The notes hit the high points. With some air there is enough backbone to create more harmony. Otherwise its engine is out of tune.
February 21, 2023 - Still a huge alc bomb. Sort of glad this is our last of these.
December 5, 2022 - Once again, a mixed bag. Started off waaaaaay too intense. Too inky. Too...pow!! Such high alc notes that get in the way. As it sat open over the course of a few hours, it certainly mellowed. To me, quite controversial and polarizing.
October 28, 2022 - Full bodied. Bit burning in the aftertaste. Had better bottles of Moncayo than this vintage.
July 13, 2022 - 90/100
June 29, 2022 - What can I say, yummy, yummy, yummy. And getting better year by year. I still have 10 bottles left and will drink them cautiously to enjoy every drop.
