July 27, 2021 - 2016 William & Mary Schifflet Ranch Cabernet: 10 hour double decant. Inky dark purple concentration, with good freshness. Dark red fruited with a kiss of sweetness and vanilla. Slightly riper than the 2016 Calon Segur, but also not veering into jammy and also with nearly as good frehsness. A streak of bitter green on the finish (which brings welcome complexity for me). Overall, enough freshness and complexity to cover the 14.5% alcohol, but the slight sweetness does betray the high power. Medium finish. 93 for me, but I can see cab drinkers scoring this 94-95+. Nearly right behind the globally endorsed 2016 Calon Segur.

July 3, 2021 - Really nice with good fruit and balance. Silky on the palate. Finishes long. Good stuff now with potential to improve.

June 18, 2021 - First time dipping in to my W&M stash. Drank over one week via coravin. Everything is integrated well in this wine. Tart red fruit that emerges quickly on the palate, just the right amount of acidity and tannin to make your mouth pucker with each sip. Flavor that lasts long after each taste. Really well done. Kudos to Will and the team.

May 23, 2021 - I really enjoyed drinking this over this last week. Lots of blueberry and cassis, with a touch of chalkiness which was very noticeable at PNP. It definitely delivered for its price range. Highly recommend.

    May 22, 2021 - From Jen's cellar at our '21 Wine-a-palooza......

Sweet upfront fruit on the nose and the palate. Medium weight right now. Will probably fill out further with more than a double splash decant or more cellar time. Very sweet blue/black fruit. Matching acidity and slight astringency on the back end with its current tannic structure. Begging for more time I think. Very nice!
