August 26, 2023 - Napa 2023 - The Sequel; 8/23/2023-8/28/2023: Outstanding. White flowers, bittersweet chocolate, hint of purple fruit, dark berry liquer, long finish. Refined and elegant version of Dr. Crane. Oak has receded, just enough tannic backbone to keep it interesting. Drink now with air, or let rest a couple of more years for maximum delight.

May 29, 2023 - Thought I grabbed a bottle of the Black Label from storage and when I got home it was, well, too late. All good, gave this a 2 hour decant and dove right in.

Such a well made wine that still has plenty of gas in the tank to go for years. Like others have noted, a more 'restrained' style of The Doctah, and for my palate its perfect.

Had a bit of remorse for popping the cork on my last one, but it is what it is. Saved 1.5 glasses for tonight and will report back with any further thoughts.

Paired well with a wagyu NY strip, scalloped potatoes and spanakopita. I know, the last one is an outlier, but the little lady was out of town and thats all that was in the fridge. Gotta get my greens in, right?

April 30, 2021 - 3 days in Napa: Arkenstone, Memento Mori, Maxem, The French Laundry, Christopher Tynan, Kinsman, Harlan, Vice Versa, Accendo, Fairchild, Macdonald, and a truckload of others (Napa): Similar to my previous notes, with black cherry, cedar, spice, fresh mulch, and subtle minerality present in a medium-bodied chassis that does well to express a more controlled and classic version of the Crane site. I very much appreciate the ability of this wine to not flagrantly flaunt the fruit right in front of your face; there is precision to go along with the ripe (but not demonstratively bodacious) fruit. Hold until after 2025.
