Community Tasting Notes 4

June 13, 2023 - Deep golden in the glass. Nose is advanced, as well as the palate - to that point that this feels quite tired. The fruit is dead, the wine tastes like peach yoghurt that's gone sour. Still drinkable, but not loveable.

April 29, 2023 - Quite brown with some off putting aromas that remind me a bit of premoxed Burgundy. I popped the cork back in and left it in the fridge overnight as an experiment. Much to my surprise, it had improved a lot with the oxygen. It drank more like a 20 to 30 year old Chenin but I love those wines so we genuinely had no problem drinking the rest of the bottle. If your bottle seems way too advanced, give it a second chance the next day.

July 25, 2022 - Great Chenin blanc with a lot of stuffin' - first night its like opening a can of peaches and sticking your head in a bag of red/yellow apples. After a lot of air, and frankly, second night with half of the bottle left, this is singing a more elegant tune. Great to drink now but with a proper decant, or to store in the cellar a few more years.

October 14, 2020 - Softer than Chenin from Vouvray, lovely texture, lightly toasty mineral citrus wildflower.

I will hold bottle #2 for a year, minimum, to see what develops. I suspect that the wine will become far more complex...

    Rated +1 on a scale of -1 to +3.
