Community Tasting Notes 2

April 6, 2020 - I always liked Borgo del Tiglio but this bottle of 2016 Collio Bianco left me perplexed. Perfumed and fragrant as I poured the first glass, with yeasty, bread crust notes, and a hint of machine oil, but then a butterscotch custard like blanket covered all. Dense, big and static in the mouth with some acidity and nerve but not enough. Tasty sweet fruit, mostly ripe peach, pear, banana, with a hint of toasted almonds. But the alcohol was too dominant. We couldn’t finish a full glass. This bottle did not seemed oxidized, so I am wondering is it this wine’s style? Or is BdT falling for the trend in Friuli to make blends like this unecessairily heavy?

May 12, 2019 - Always love the layers to this wine with the Riesling, Sauvignon and Tocai each doing their part. Good texture, medium body, a lovely salty bitter quality. Great with a clam pizza that brings out the briny. A bit disjointed on finish.
