June 25, 2023 - Rose's on the Deck (For a Time): A Summer Party -2nd Edition (Matt and Brenda's, Minneapolis, MN): Medium cherry red color. Small glass. Tasted both the '17 and '19, no formal notes, just don't find myself gravitating to this wine. It really needs food, and we were pretty much done eating by the time we got to these. I need some more time with them, score reserved - but my gut thinking is 88-89pts.

October 5, 2022 - Somewhat similar to last bottle on 6/3/19 but thankfully no alcohol heat this time out. Very balanced although for the price I would elect for Tempier or Ott. Now 91 points.

July 9, 2022 - Pale red with an orange tinge. Very Provençale nose of herb and bark. Medium to full bodied, wonderfully glycerine feel. Fantastic complexity in the mouth-ripe cherry, apple, thyme, and then some tannin at the end. Rosé really doesn't get much better than this, and I don't even think that it is fully mature at 5 years of age.

June 25, 2022 - Rose's on the Deck: A Summer Party (Matt and Brenda's, Minneapolis, MN): Deep coral orange color. This was fairly similar to a bottle from a year ago. Big in style, bold red fruits, firm, and dense, citrus and pomegranate, lacks much in the way of nuance. Coming after a string of very elegant wines this was a stark contrast.

February 27, 2022 - 14.5% abv. On opening, at 55-60° F, it’s sweet and boozy. An hour later it gains detail and focus. Cherry cordial mulled with cinnamon and orange peel. It’s still a grapey thing, more than three years after release. Monolith, statue, deliberation. Plain plum pulp shrouds a reinforcing barrier of acidity. Playful tannins dress the top notes. Acids form the bedrock. In between are drupes—prune, marzipan pressed with twigs. At the very hinter edge of the long, delayed finish: savory, stone bitterness; curry.
24 hours later, served at 40° F—it’s bracing. Juices of fruit piston like legs pumping a wheel. Starched threads of stony tannin align like ripe little signals; they leave an attenuated grip throughout the event. The brew of glycerin and booze, more evident yesterday, is now just enough to fill the structure with reward. Pruneaux, toasted almond, a breath of mint from the garden.
