February 22, 2024 - (Not a) birthday dinner (Hinsdale, IL): More impressive that this has held up after all these years. A bit of smoke and showing a herbal character for Napa cabernet. Very much mature sun-drenched Napa fruit on the palate, with resolved, leathery tannins. Impressive weight but for my palate, this is more on its last legs than anything.

February 17, 2024 - Jon's 50th Birthday Party: PnP. Small pour. This is incredibly fresh and vibrant with a perfect balance of fruit and tertiary flavors. Luscious mouthfeel and a finish that lingers. Very memorable bottle.

April 7, 2023 - California Dreamin' and a Pair of Inaugural Corton Charlemagne: Very good, although initially less elegant then the 1951 served alongside. Over the evening this improved continually and it attempted to challenge its sibling's performance. Also from the Singleton Cellar.

December 17, 2022 - Drinking absolutely beautifully. Ruby color with a hint of brown, classic BV nose, great balance and mouthfeel.

June 11, 2019 - i have had some BVs that died but was shocked by the silky taste and fruit in this old wine, one of my oldest. served it at a small dinner party after decanting for an hour and it was absolutely delicious.. we tasted against a 1968 that was also remarkably alive and the 58 won unanmously. i was so sure it would have no fruit and it was delicious. one bottle left which i will have this winter!

(Beaulieu Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve) Hardly bricking dark ruby color; very appealing, blackberry, ripe black currant, plum, stewed plum nose; silky textured, tasty, youthful, ripe, rich, black currant, blackberry, light menthol palate; will go 20 more years; medium-plus finish (exciting, youthful, ripe style older Cabernet; I can see why it is often cited as the greatest Georges de Latour Private Reserve vintage)
