December 23, 2022 - Last bottle of this in the cellar from our trip to Italy in '18. Just splendid qpr with this one. Hard to believe how good this one is with food. Doesn't matter if it's a meat sauce with pasta or just a meatloaf. Soft and integrated and sublime red fruit. Well balanced and very satisfying. Sad to see it go......

February 28, 2020 - Sangiovese, cabernet and merlot.....tasted at the winery in '18. Now after some time, another bottle. Pnp with pepperoni pizza last night, it was a great match. Seems to be very cabernet dominant at this time. A bit of iron, red fruit and tannic structure that is still quite pronounced. First night 91-92 pts.

Put the cork back in the last third of the bottle overnight and enjoyed tonight while watching that great cinematic achievement-Hellboy.

I will start by saying that I generally despise wine open for more than 24 hours, hell, even more than 12 hours. But something told me this wine needed time and air last night to soften into something, maybe better? Tonight's nose is a bit more perfumed, sweeter, smells a bit like an Oreo cookie......flavor profile a lot more merlot dominant and more balanced, much less tannic, but still tannic. This is fantastic! There is great fruit here albeit on one or two levels. There is intensity mixed with complexity with even more time in glass. Mid weight velvety red/blue fruit, with a perfectly matched bead of acidity throughout. Some sweet tobacco and cassis.....swings way above its class the second night. 94 pts not a stretch now. This may very well be the least expensive and best 94 pt wine I've ever had. But ONLY on day 2.

May 30, 2019 - Great super Tuscan picked up at the winery last summer in Tuscany. Cab, Merlot and Sangiovese. They claimed this wine was only available to purchase at the winery. I have not seen it for sale Stateside. It is surprisingly affordable and flavorful for what you get. Dark garnet in the glass, great black fruit and forest floor on the nose. First sip is silky, luscious fruit with sweet tannins, a hint of vanilla/oak and wonderful acidity with dark chocolate on the end. Pop and pour is best. If it gets a couple hours of air the tannins increase their grip!
