March 22, 2020 - Klar, dunkles rubingranat, leichte Randaufhellung mit leichten orangenen Reflexen, hohe Viskosität
Sauber, ausgeprägtes Aroma nach roten Früchten, Gewürze, komplex
Trocken, saftige Säure, samtiges Tannin, ausgeprägter Geschmack nach Zwetschgen, Gewürzen, leicht kompottig, gut gebaut, länger Abgang

February 5, 2014 - Rather intense fruity nose with dark berries (blackcurrants, plums) and some lactic notes. Med. body. Dark berries on the palate with some oak present, but not offensive. Quite crunchy, tannic, fresh, very moderately spicy. Very good, but slightly bitter oakiness is still a bit disturbing, especially in the aftertaste.

    April 27, 2013 - 20 min dekantiert ca. 18 Grad
    1. Nase: Kaffee etwas Vanille breit und sehr sauber, Mineralik und Erde, Tabak
    2. Nase: Schokolade Brombeere

September 28, 2009 - This bottled was not oxidized as the last one and showed the true potential of this wine. It's very dark purple colored and offers lots of tobacco, funghi and forest soil, quality toasted oak notes and dark fruits on the nose. Also the palate is of dark character, initially quite oaky, then gives way to clean cherry notes mixed with tons of tobacco and smoke. A hint bitter and short on the finish maybe. Smooth tannins indicate good drinkability, despite the dark tones that currently cover some of the fruit. A complex wine, but I find the oak is a little overdone. Maybe that will integrate further. While drinking this, I was constantly thinking of walking through the cellars of an old medieval castle during a foggy autumn evening. Very gothic style. - 90 points

June 26, 2009 - Partly oxidative bottle. Aged Zweigelt aromatics, but also the palate is dominated by oxidative notes. Its a pitty, as this seems to have been a mouthfilling and complex wine. Not the first bottle with oxidation problems from Umathum/Zantho
