March 28, 2024 - Loved this vintage! Moderate tannins, nice underlying green pepper notes. Drank this bottle over 3 days and enjoyed it from start to end.
April 9, 2023 - I always enjoy this wine but it paled as a follow up to the ‘07 purple angel.
February 24, 2023 - Very little in the way of tannins leaving the wine unbalanced. Medium intensity black currant coupled with some herbaceousness gives some complexity into a shortish finish.
February 14, 2023 - I was hoping for a better outcome after the previous bottle but, even after giving this one the benefit of the doubt by decanting for a day, it was simply not enjoyable.
Although it did soften after the decant, acidity was much more prevalent than tannin and any form of flavour could best be described as a sour cherry.
In short, the balance was poor, the length of finish was mercifully short, flavour intensity was low and consisted of the aforementioned sour cherry. I hope the subsequent vintages I have are at least palatable as the 2016 would be doing a disservice to the sangrias it will inevitably be used to create.

December 23, 2022 - Well i thought id open new bottle to see if there was a bottle variation issue, nope this was just like last night’s; past due date, flat with NOTHING remaining. Francois please come drink wine w me.
December 22, 2022 - Well, had w bbq chicken and the wine was at its last gasp. Soft (too) with no tannin or character. Sorry Francois but i cant seem to keep up with my cellar and drink these young. Need another person here helping me drink. I will open another of this vintage to see if it was bottle variation.
June 4, 2020 - What’s not to like! That pepper wow! Fruity berries. Juicy. Rich. Easy to drink. Paired up with another nice charcuterie board. Another fine Carm from Black Hills!!
September 8, 2019 - Very good, but not at the same level as the 2014, which is offering more depth and complexity, but with very similar, but less intense aromas (with pepper & black berries. Drink or hold for another 3-5 years.
February 14, 2019 - Tough time leaving this alone. Had with cheese n crackers on Valentines. Still yummy!
