March 21, 2024 - Fabulous wine, popped and poured from cellar. Well integrated and in a nice spot. Drink up

March 13, 2024 - I feel like the first bottle I drank was more funky and olive heavy. A little uneven a few years ago.
This was beautifully balanced and seamless from fruit to secondary flavors.
Exactly what I hoped it would be.

    Ready to go now

February 11, 2024 - Bold without being over the top, really nice Syrah with great fruit and very silky

February 24, 2023 - Decanted 2+ hours. Bold and meaty but lacked complexity and fullness. Bought this years ago based on WS 95 rating. Certainly didn't live up to that for us. Will let the other bottle age a few more years.

February 14, 2023 - Not decanted, consumed using GlassVin Universal stems. The appearance was ever so slightly muddy looking, almost as if I had disturbed a bunch of sediment. That didn't detract from the enjoyment, however. Very pretty nose with blackberry, licorice, and a touch of pepper. There was a very slight detraction of alcohol on the nose, but not enough to be offensive. On the palate, this had a very unmistakable kalamata olive note playing with the rich dark fruit (plum, blackberry). This isn't a meaty Syrah in the style of Rocks Syrah, but more of a briny, saline type of Syrah, which I really enjoyed. Drink now, but this will also hold for 5-7 years easily. Delicious and interesting wine.

    Full Pull K Vintners, 9/26/2018

(K Vintners Syrah Powerline) Drawing Winner: The lucky winner of our final book drawing, for the 2012 Horsepower Syrah Mag, is Scott Marckmann, a Full Puller since 2015. Congratulations to Scott, and thanks again to all of you who have supported 36 Bottles of Wine! ---- Hello friends. We have small parcels of a trio of Syrah from K Vintners’ recent set of releases. Our K offers are always feeding frenzies, and this one promises to be extra cuckoo given the wines involved. So, we’ll dive right in with two quick notes: 1. To the best of our knowledge, we have retail dibs on all three of these wines west of the mountains. 2. It’s likely we’ll have to under-allocate here, given the parcel sizes, so a quick reminder of our allocation technique: Our allocations favor breadth over depth, so that everyone gets one bottle before anyone gets two. And our formula for prioritizing allocations includes overall orders, frequency of orders, recency of orders, and list tenure, among other factors. Now, onto the wines:We offered Powerline’s debut 2014 vintage last year before it landed the #2 spot on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 wines of 2017. Then, every bottle available got gobbled up immediately. This year, we’re getting our orders in early—knowing that this wine will probably be gone before the 2018 list is even published. This comes from the second usable vintage at K’s new estate Powerline Vineyard, a 30-acre site located at over 1200 feet elevation in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. Harvested at yields of 2.2 tons acre, the Syrah was given 53 days on skins and fermented using only native yeasts. The wine spent more than two years in large French puncheons, 25% new. Listed alc is 14.5%. Jeb Dunnuck: Copyrighted material withheld.
