    March 16, 2019 - bottled May 2015. Disgorged February 2018.

light golden color with soft bubbles, nicely persistent bead. Nose yeasty, golden fruit, honey, faint wax. Palate some figgy golden fruit, a bit of toast, great balance of some richness on the mouthfeel balanced by a moderate acidity.

Young perhaps but showing very well, it was our group's wine of the night. Very pleasurable with oysters and other light seafood

March 3, 2019 - Feb 2015 disgorge, 2011 May bottling. Quite nice. Good energy, quite dense. Lacking the complexity and detail of his other cuvées. A slight bitter note.

October 27, 2018 - 2015 Northern Rhones Blind: My kind of Extra Brut in that this had sufficient fruit richness and roundness. Racy, for sure, but well balanced. Excellent bubbly to open the night.

October 27, 2018 - Most of the 2015 Northern Rhones worth a damn, blind (Chicago, IL): My notes say: "May 2014, disg. 2016." I don't know if I copied something wrong there. In any case, I think this is a clear step up from the 7 Crus. It's a little softer and gentler, but the balance is perfect and this is just incredibly pleasurable to drink right now. A nice touch of green apples on the finish here -- this is nice and rounded and there's no acidity screaming in your face here.

February 19, 2018 - So i thought what i opened is Laherte's Ultradition, and somehow only looked at the label and realized i'd been drinking the Complantée the 2nd day. It was pretty much the most special bottle i thought i have.

Stupidity aside it was the impossibly perfect blind tasting scenario. And i'm not ashamed to say i didn't have a clue of the difference in price and production size. The style is noticeably different than (half bottle) Ultradition from memory: decidedly dry, saline, mineral, focused and finessed. Alongside Valdespino's Ojo de Gallo the similarity is actually not too subtle - it almost hints at what sparkling fino sherry might taste like, while still remain unmistakably Champagne tip-toeing on the balance between yeast and fruit. But at the end of the (blind tasting) day i wasn't overly bowled over, and didn't get the quality that makes a very first rate (or a John Szabo 96 points) wine special. 91-93
