November 13, 2021 - Family birthday dinner enjoyed with mushroom risotto. Aired in the bottle for about an hour. Opened with dark plums and smoky aromas. Inky dark and thick. First sips had strong flavor of bacon bits which faded somewhat during the evening. Silky smooth, almost syrupy, with dark berries, lavender and umami. Went well with the meal and also excellent just sipping on its own.

November 9, 2020 - This has a black raspberry fruit with a bit of violet, a solid earth presence and a spicy tart finish. There is a velvet mouthfeel that goes along with the long full finish.

June 5, 2020 - Tasted as part of a Rasa virtual tasting. "Truth follows", meaning the truth in the wine follows the soil. Our third Rasa virtual tasting and on this one we began to see how varied the wines are based on both location/terroir as well as driven by the conditions of the growing season. Rasa does such a great job of not getting in the way of the wines too much and not trying to create something that isn't there.

Coravin tasting, poured about 30 minutes before and tasted last. The huge aromas were leaping from the glass and were easily distinguishable from feet away. Medium+ opacity and body with a silky, syrupy mouthfeel. This has a savory sweetness and some extraction without going over the edge. I don't get the meatiness or bacon fat others talk about. The better descriptor for me, which Billo or Pinto pointed out, is umami, an almost soy sauce and mushroom flavor, with some back pepper aromas and finish. Christine compared this to a Porter beer which sounds odd but has some merit. One of my favorite Rocks Syrahs I've had.

November 8, 2019 - This wine is dense with plum, white pepper, bacon fat, truffle, black olive, Stoney minerality and forest floor. This wine will only get better and can lay down for 8-15 years.
