May 2, 2020 - Very foggy, rusty, red, brown. Stewed fruit on the nose. It still has some good flavor but is past its prime. Some tart strawberry, a little earth and minerals. Metal on the finish. We enjoyed it but wished we dark it sooner.

March 22, 2015 - Brett and barnyard on the nose. Initially I assumed a (flawed) Burgundy but after the wine was revealed, it made much more sense. The Grenache character was obvious but again this did not made me love CDP any bit more.

June 8, 2014 - Forward, ripe and sweet nose of dark fruit, herbs and meat. Not terrible deep or complex but easy to enjoy.

March 28, 2013 - Dark, a little cloudy, garnet and bricking. Nose is reddish fruit, some menthol and herbs and flowers. The taste is big, chewy, black cherry fruit, liquorice, sweet and spicy with some oak too. A really complex wine with lots going on; my last bottle sadly...

February 18, 2013 - Cellar clearance 2013 (our house): A bit more rustic and gamey than the La Nerthe, this had a core of cherryish fruit beneath the smoked meats. This wine seemed at peak right now but has the acidity to age further.

November 30, 2012 - Smoky, charred nose, pool locker room, tobacco/ash, and just a touch of cherry. Relatively simple on the palate, with lots of acidity and some dark, powdery cocoa on the finish. If you haven't drank by now, get drinking.

May 6, 2012 - lovely garnet colour with classic 'garrigue' nose. Soft tannins beautifully in balance with plum fruits on the palate. Not the most impressively complex CdP compared to say 1989 Beaucastel but very enjoyable with Roast Lamb.

January 25, 2012 - Nice if not remarkable cdp. Still a bit tight on opening - benefits from about an hour of air - then excellent with roast chicken.

February 28, 2010 - Nice bright color, with aromas of raspberry ganache and garrigue, developing a nice peperry undertone with air. Very well-balanced, with spice, red fruit -- raspberry & cherry, and licorice flavors on the palate. Presents itself well across the palate, ending with an impressively long, balanced finish.

October 24, 2009 - Blew off some odour from opening. Decanted for an hour. Cherries and spice aroma. Ripe fruit in glass along with some savoury pepper and tannin in there to give some grip and backbone. Pretty smooth, some astringency, a little acidic and a decent finish. Very nice.
