January 27, 2024 - Green herbs and milk chocolate. Nope, not in a good way. To quote the old Wendy’s ladies: Where’s the fruit?

October 7, 2023 - I don’t know what exactly is going on with these 375s, but it’s almost like BRAND took some off barrels and bottled them as 375s. This bottle and all my prior 2016 375s are off, full of oak and frankly only marginally ok. 86 is a gift, given the vintage and my love of the 12s and 13s, I can only hope this was some sort of f-up! If my 750s are this bad, it only bolsters my decision to stop buying, but BRAND should be ashamed of this showing, I chalked the prior showings up to youth … maybe I was plain wrong?

This is not the same wine I see showing in the other tasting notes…no way no how

    October 27, 2022 - From a 375ml. PnP and rest into decanter.

Dark black, slight purplish rim, runny legs.

Nose-bright floral, spice, charcoal, minerals, black cherry, red cherry licorice.

Palate-not as giving as the nose. Muted, lacking in acid. No apparent oak/tannin. Somewhat hot. With time, chocolate, black and red cherry, warm liquer on the finish.

The nose was Napa — the palate was BDX.

I thought a 375ml at 6 yrs old would show more secondary development. Another disappointment but I am not giving up on the potential as ‘12 and ‘13 were so delicious. This was good, not great, but I had higher expectations. Feels like the Cabernet Sauvignon is trying to come out and dance and the Cabernet Franc is being a grumpy hermit! I dare not open a 750 ml anytime soon.

And also, I will read my own notes from before….

September 1, 2022 - Pritchard Hill Magic! 65 CF 35 CS. Mesmerizing aromas of blackberry liqueur, kirsch, melted black licorice, fried herbs, tobacco leaf, graphite and dust. Bold, intense on the palate but never heavy adding some spiced cedar, plums, chocolate and iron. Plus acidity and pillowy tannins on a beautiful long finish!
