Community Tasting Notes 5

June 27, 2022 - Huge wine, with lots warm fruit, noticeable alcohol, but some grip and good structure. Notes of blackberry, black currant, tar, lard, baking powder, smoke and some eucalyptus. Very enjoyable wine for sure but definitely a modern style and loses some points for me with the alcohol that was distracting to say the least. If the heat and that burnt feeling work their way out over time this has potential to gain a couple of points but this bottle tonight as it was drinking did NOT live up to the hype. Drank along side a Don Melchor 2013 that everyone agreed was the superior wine.

November 3, 2021 - Incredible wine for a vintage so difficult to produce.
For me, one of the three best wine of this year with Lafleur and Carmes H-B

September 24, 2019 - Tasted from the barrel, never thought how accessible it could be. Vibrant polished black fruit, violets, very silky. Elegant, rich, pure, very good volume, well balanced.
It must be a blockbuster in 10 years. Also joyful to drink it at this stage. Just a Masterpiece.

July 9, 2018 - Tasted alongside the 2016, this shows more elegance and less heft but retains the same dark-fruited, supple, beautifully balanced personality. This should also be a joy in the future. Mid 90s.

April 26, 2018 - A surprise of spearmint mixed with dewy soil, thyme, coffee and black cherries bring out the perfume. On the palate, the wine is medium bodied, aristocratic and finesse driven. The fruit is vibrant and there is a nectarous interlude in the mid-palate, coupled with a silky finish that focuses on the purity in the fruits over power.
