August 6, 2022 - A little flat, medium low tannin, maintains its dusty earthy quality h it I would drink now if this is in your cellar

December 18, 2021 - Paired with a straightforward meat sauce on rigatoni, this worked very well indeed. Well-balanced, with hints of tobacco, menthol, and forest floor. A pleasing, lower-cost Barolo. I'd be happy to have more.

December 12, 2021 - Dinner with friends. Decanted about 4 hours before serving with pane bianco and Sunday gravy. Overwhelmed by the red sauce. A little bit of a letdown with medium intensity (but correct) aromatics and fruit that is tasting a bit dried. The structure is still tight knit but accessible with air. will hold through 2028+, though I am not sure I would dedicate the cellar space. Inferior showing to the last bottle, very good 87.

April 29, 2021 - Follow-up note: Seemed a bit overextracted and tight this time, but it was paired with a difficult dish: spinach and ricotta gnocchi in tomato cream sauce. Would work better as a pairing later in the meal or with a more straightforward dish.

February 27, 2021 - Moderately saturated garnet color, hints of bricking, but a clear edge. Nose hints of cherry, menthol, maybe a bit of tobacco. Vivid acidity, grippy tannins, and fairly restrained fruit, again hinting at cherries. Longish finish. Decent as a companion to moderately ambitious cooking, but not a standout Barolo.

February 12, 2021 - Thin, grippy, drying tannins, tart fruit, and not much else. Coffee grounds lift from the glass of zippy and tangy cherry, but that's about it even after a decant of several hours. Disappointed based on previous reviews. Bottle variation or in a dumb phase? We last tasted two years ago, and there's been little change or perhaps regression. I can't see this improving much when there's not much to improve upon.

January 2, 2021 - Budget Barolo, but it hits all of the right notes. Quintessential tar and roses, earth, a little leather and garrigue. Firmly structured. Takes on a savory dimension when paired with lamb and red sauce. Drink or hold. Very good 89.

October 25, 2020 - I wasn't expecting a lot for a barolo with a 28$ price tag but I was mistaken. Took about an hour to open up and for the nose to come around but then it was all cinnamon cherry on the nose, spice, leather and a little licorice with a great mouthfeel and teeth coating tannins . Good finish. I think this speaks volumes about the quality of the 2013 vintage. 91 - 92. Would buy again.

September 9, 2020 - Great value. Lots of structure here and plenty of power. A huge jump up in flavor and intensity from a generic Langhe Nebbiolo for not much more money.
