January 19, 2020 - WSET Level 3; 11/3/2019-2/3/2020 (San Diego, CA): Tasted double blind, correctly identified as a Torrontes. The following tasting note is identical to what Master of Wine, Lindsay Pomeroy, described to class.

Medium lemon; pronounced intensity, youthful aromas of primary floral (honeysuckle, lilac, acacia, white blossoms), stone fruit (apricot, nectarine, peach), citrus (lemon, lemon zest, tangerine), spice (white pepper) and soap, sardines, iodine. Secondary aromas from lees (biscuit, cheese). Dry, med acid, med body, med+ intensity, med finish, high alcohol. Primary flavors of citrus (lemon, tangerine), stone fruit (apricot, peach), herbal (lemongrass), spice (white pepper, liquorice), floral (jasmine, honeysuckle, blossoms) and salt, soapy, minerals. Secondary flavors from lees contact (yeast, bread dough, biscuit). This is a good wine. Drink now, not suitable for aging.

December 19, 2019 - Clear, pale lemon green in color. Clean nose with medium intensity and aromas of saline, lemon, yellow apple, ripe yellow nectarine and blossom. Dry with medium+ acidity, medium alcohol, medium- body, medium intensity flavors of lemon drop, fresh apricot, saline, and perfume. Long finish. A good wine, best drunk now.

September 17, 2019 - WSET Level 2; 8/20/2019-10/15/2019 (Leoness Cellars, Temecula, CA): Totally unfamiliar with this grape. Pale lemon; chalky white peach, perfume and lavender aromas. Interesting flavors of sardines, black licorice and flint on the bitter palate. Medium acid, medium bodied. Not a fan.

December 3, 2018 - Wine Dojo - SommSelect Blind Six - (September 2018 Shipment): Tasted Blind

    A: Medium lemon green
N: Pronounced intensity. Rose, geranium, honeysuckle, orange blossom, Baking spice. Youthful
P: Dry, medium (+) acid, full body, pronounced intensity, medium (+) alcohol (14%), medium finish.
C: Good Quality wine. Drink now.

    Guesses:
Recognized this right away as either gewurz or torrontes. The acid was getting up there and so was the alcohol and so landed on Torrontes, Salta, Argentina 2016 as a final guess.

    Mistake:
Was a year out. Not too worried.
