July 20, 2008 - The Finest Burgundy Domains: The Classical 2004 (Caveau): Medium red. A walk in the forest strewn with mushrooms. Some leather. Simple sweetish cherries. Very NZ styled.

July 19, 2008 - Vinum 2004 Burgundy Tasting (Caveau, Singapore): Looking at the last CT note, I can only surmise that this poster's bottle was rather off. The one I tried was not bad. A dark red colour, with a nose of leather and ripe red cherries. I can see where the vegetal streak comes in, I noted a fresh seaweedy twang on the nose. This all but disappeared on the palate though, which had good balance, some freshness and tannins with some amount of grip. Rather direct and fruit forward with cherries dominating. Okay finish with decent length. Rather modern, very extracted in style and perhaps just a little lacking in intensity of fruit. Still, a pretty decent pinot.
