June 19, 2023 - Château Haut-Brion and Château La Mission Haut-Brion Tasting and Dinner (Winefield's Auctioneers, Amsterdam, NL): Purchased en primeur by the contributing participant and kept in perfect storage ever since. Slightly deeper colour than the 1993, but perfect for age; marvellous freshness and energy, not as precise as the 1993 but richer in style and more energetic, wonderfully harmonious and flowing, hint of spicy oak; finishes with an almost Burgundian touch of lemon curd. Takes to oxygen like a duck takes to water.

November 18, 2022 - Kleur: Medium strogeel Aroma / bouquet: Wow.

Colour: Medium straw yellow Aroma / bouquet: Wow. For me a Pessac-Léognan will not get more beautiful than this. A subtle start of a more tertiary character, but as part of a complex range of refined aromas such as stone fruit, lime and ripe pineapple, Taste / Aftertaste: Mouth-filling and super-seductive. Silky texture, very complex. With impressions of ripe citrus fruit, butter and stone fruit in the mouth. A wine that can be compared with the most beautiful white Burgundies on many points. Impressively long finish. General / potential: Wow. A Pessac-Léognan will not get more beautiful than this for me. A seriously great wine, currently almost 30 years old and certainly with a few years to come… But until 2050???? I wouldn't dare to take that risk… 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 15 + Taste / Aftertaste: 19 + Overall / potential: 9 = 98/100

June 20, 2019 - The longer it respires oxygen, the darker it gets and the deeper the flavor. That’s the good part. The other side is that it veers right up to the edge of oxidation and the flavors of pit fruit, honey and banana become more simple. And yet for the first few minutes it was gloriously fragrant, delicate and multidimensional. It’s an interesting ride, but the six of us did not finish the bottle.

January 10, 2018 - From the last half bottle. Needs half an hour to open up after which it soars from the glass. Silky, hint of oxidation, stone fruit, Jasmin. Dry White Bdx seems to age very well and this is no exception.
