May 28, 2022 - Dark garnet fading gradually to a watery rim. Deep plumb, baking spices, and soy sauce on the nose. I fear this is past its prime and becoming oxidized. Full-bodied on the palate with gentle tannins, medium acidity, red berries, mineral, and a medium-length drying finish.

The backstory- Armenia, obscure grape, amphora, etc. can be found in other notes. Interesting wine, but my bottle is definitely past peak and disappointing for the US$44 I paid for it.

December 12, 2021 - Aromatic style with blackberry, herbs and some minerals. Nice fruit, good acidity and juicy finish with some tannin grip. Very enjoyable.

September 2, 2020 - Opened for G&V. From pre-phylloxera areni varietal vines planted at some elevation on Mount Ararat, made in amphorae. Darker fruit and spice with more weight than the bottle opened four weeks ago, and absolutely irresistable. A highlight of new wines from anywhere I've had recently.

August 19, 2020 - From pre-phylloxera areni varietal vines planted at some elevation on Mount Ararat, made in amphorae. Minerally red fruit and green walnut nose, and as it opens strawberry and darker red berries pick up white pepper and some baking spices. Absolutely delightful, and reminiscent of what a blend between pinot and sangiovese might taste like. Not a long term hold, but could surprise me for a few years more.
