October 10, 2020 - In my cellar since release. My records indicate I paid around $58 US for this. Double decanted at 4:15pm and taken to a friend’s house for dinner around 8:30pm. Only slightly bricked and otherwise fresh and youthful looking. There was a slight hint of brett/barnyard that faded rather quickly on the nose, then layers of red and black fruit, mushrooms, fine leather, chocolate, sous bois, cedar, burnt brown sugar and some light spice. Silky, luxuriously smooth mouthfeel. Layers of flavor that reflect the nose. Very long on the finish. Great balance of acidity and earthy flavors set against red and black fruit and berries. This wine commanded attention from the first pour. It was a perfect pairing with wood fire grilled lamb chops but nearly as good with grilled steaks. Effortlessly delicious and gone way too soon. Plenty of life left thankfully as I have 2 bottles remaining in the cellar. Best bottle I’ve had of this so far.

June 26, 2020 - Farnsburg best bottle: From a stunning magnum, this wine showed beautifully, sweet, herbs, cherries, red berries, milk chocolate. Great stuff!!

June 16, 2020 - Wonderful weight and finesse. Dark fruit, coffee and touch of mint after several hours. Great balance and texture. Perfect now.

April 1, 2020 - What a wine! Still going strong. Quick decant and it’s in full stride. Nose of pomegranate, cedar, sweet spice and a touch of eucalyptus/mint. Lovely medium ruby color. On the palate: tart cherry and pomegranate, earthy oak and cedar, some leather, all beautifully integrated with well resolved tannins. Fine acidic backbone. An exceptional example of St Emilion.

March 20, 2020 - Extensive Social Distancing Drink #3. Glorious wine, this wine has never failed to impress me since mid-90s. Every bottle was a gem. Clean floral nose, sweet and smooth on entry, still some fine tannins around. Heavy burnt cigarette finish. Long and complex, lush yet elegant, this is such a beauty. Reached plateau but will last for a long long time with its impeccable balance. Technically this is a near perfect wine but emotionally this is not. Best bottle of wine this year.
