June 9, 2019 - Russk. I enjoyed it more this time. Not impossibly austere.

May 23, 2019 - Pale yellow colour, has some small bubbles of carbonic acid, smells of mango and in the background slightly of lovage, light body, very dry, almost austere, medium acidity, in both the mouth and aftertaste mango and a little bit of lovage, good length (15 sec), in my opinion this wine is unbalanced, a little bit more residual sugar would have been better, not my style of wine, will not buy again.

April 27, 2019 - Blind Wine Tasting (San Diego Wine Co.): WAY too cold

N: Apples/pears with undertones of minerals

P: Med, poss LM, body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt (suspect threshold R.S.) DEFTLY counterbalanced by an acidity wich defines the wine into & through the LONG, balanced, very, VERY slightly bitterish finish with notes of tangy/swtness. SHOULD do well with lighter fare. For now & into, poss through, '21. 13% ABV; My VG+. [I saw no other source with which to compare this vendor's $15.99.]

FYI, I misidentified this as being the '17 Fillaboa "Rias Biaxas" Albariño. :(

January 30, 2019 - After 1 hr aeration typical von Buhl nose.
On the mid-palate it misses depth and structure. The wine somehow bridges this weakness with strong acidity and this also dominates the aftertaste with a slight salty / citrus note. Really dry mouthfeel which is good.
Solid Riesling for everyday - nothing more nothing less.

January 26, 2019 - To my understanding, this wine differs from the regular Von Buhl Riesling (occasionally labeled as Riesling trocken) in that this is made from purchased grapes, while the other one is estate fruit only. Tasted blind in VV.

Quite intense grassy-green color. Fresh and intense nose with aromas of ripe citrus fruits, some juicy apricot, a little bit of green apple and a subtly reductive hint of hard-boiled eggs. The wine is ripe, medium-to-moderately full-bodied and precise on the palate with bone-dry flavors of green apple, some crunchy quince, a little bit of apple peel bitterness and a hint of stony minerality. High acidity. Quite long finish with zesty citrus fruit, some Granny Smith apple, a little bit of stony minerality, a hint of crunchy quince and a touch of apricot-driven stone fruit.

A nicely fresh, balanced and harmonious dry Riesling. Perhaps a bit more linear and down-to-earth than the Von Buhl Riesling 2017, but also much more drinkable right now, as the estate fruit-version was still rather reductive right now. This wine has a bit of reduction as well, but nothing that wouldn't blow off in half an hour or so. Perhaps won't be as complex or interesting in the longer run, so this feels more like a wine for immediate consumption. Solid stuff, priced according to its quality at 14,75€.

October 14, 2018 - Russk. Terrior Tasting. My favorite dry Riesling of the tasting. Good QPR too. One of my favorite white wines of the tasting as well.
