February 8, 2019 - For a bargain wine from Trader Joe's I found this to be surprisingly decent. The heavy berry notes and almost syrupy viscosity will not appeal to drinkers of lighter red wines. I've had better, but also more expensive Syrahs from Australia. I had this with a steak, and it needs a pairing with a lamb or beef in order not to overwhelm tastebuds. I will probably buy it again - for a price like this, it's worth it.
The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It tastes like blackberry. The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity. -

September 8, 2018 - Egads. From Trader Joe's. Has definite syrah typicity in the background but it's otherwise mobbed by heavy, blueberry, overtly sweet brown sugar and toasted barrel notes that more likely came from a lab, not a vineyard. Further evidence of tampering is in the unnatural mouthfeel--after a few sips, it's like someone sprayed latex all over the inside of your mouth. And water doesn't wash it away. When to drink next? NEVER!
