August 25, 2020 - I buy at least two cases of this wine each year when released and truly love the style of this very individualistic approach to SB. I really enjoy a SB imbued with tropical tones that is one the drier side.

These wines do benefit from some aging, and three years in, the 2017 is just coming together beautifully. Great job Merry!

August 22, 2020 - Peach, melon, subtle/light lime acidity. My favorite SB, always a good experience!

July 31, 2020 - Beautiful gold green in color. Tropical fruit nose with hint of honey suckle. This batch is thick n viscous when chilled, and is sweeter than prior vintages I’ve had. Lovely and full, but doesn’t refresh as much as it coats the palate.

July 27, 2020 - Reliably delicious. I have never been disappointed with a bottle of this wine. Quite possibly my favorite SB. Beautiful on the nose. Pineapple, peach. Sadly, my last bottle. May have to order some more. Looking forward to comparing Merry Edwards with Hall’s highly rated Knights Valley SB.

July 21, 2020 - Bright medium lemon with glints of green – really unique nose of grass, herbs, agrumes, butterscotch, oak, gardenia, citrus blossoms, and honeysuckle; palate added tangerine and Kaffir lime with a pink grapefruit finish. Medium acid, 14.1% ABV, medium+ body, medium+ finish. Viscous mouthfeel, incredibly complex and well balanced. Not your typical sauvignon blanc; the full fermentation in oak (18% new) gave the impression, as my friend would put it, of a chardonnay "who knows someone." :)

Wonderful paired with pan-fried halibut with pesto.

Winemaker's Notes: "The unusual style of our Sauvignon Blanc has been created by a confluence of factors. A key component of this wine is the highly floral Sauvignon Musqué selection from Sancerre, which comprises one-third of the blend. The Shenandoah clone balances this out nicely with its classic herbal, somewhat grassy character. For the first time, a substantial proportion of grapes were harvested from our own young estate vineyards — nearly 30 percent.

Full fermentation in barrels crafted by Tonnellerie Cadus, 18 percent new, moderates green flavors. Elevage in barrel also allows for our biweekly lees-stirring protocol, vital to developing rich mouthfeel."
