March 2, 2023 - The one with Sexy Tapas (Kolabo): Powerful bouquet that was showing the perfect amount of development. I have an extremely soft spot for bouquet that showcase the likes of blood oranges, iron, meat and rose florals. On the palate this was broad yet showing great concentration, with ripe red plums, blackcurrant, licorice and earth coming to the fore. Tannins have already integrated well at this stage with bright acidity on the finish that was correct for 1993.

April 23, 2018 - Spring Swing Through France-Random Wines Tasted or Imbibed; 4/14/2018-4/25/2018 (Burgundy, Alsace, Paris): Tasted next to 1991 Drouhin Griotte Chambertin. A blast of volatile acidity that dissipated somewhat but never went away. Also some nutty funk that I think was a bit of oxidation. All that said, the wine steadily improved out of decanter for 90 minutes and then began to dry out. More meaty and mineral than the Drouhin, and lacking the lovely red fruit of that wine. Both shared a mint/menthol element, although it faded more in the Trapet over time. I wonder if this was as good a bottle as it can be. This was old style Burgundy that must have been pretty rough going when it was young. Quite good but getting long in the tooth.

March 2, 2018 - Piperade. Srsly gamey stink with pure wine underneath. Niche from my perspective.
