  March 31, 2021 - Decanted for sediment. Much lighter in color than you would expect from cabernet. More of a medium ruby color. Nose leaned more red fruit for sure with some dried cherry and maybe plum along with a bit of baking spice and a little pyrazine. Some old wood notes also coming through. Similar flavors on the palate with a mix of slightly tart red fruits, spice and cedar. High acidity. Tannins are mostly resolved and smooth. I believe time in bottle helped this wine integrate nicely and it was overall a pleasant surprise for a 10 year old cabernet from FLX.

  July 27, 2019 - July 2019 Trip to the Finger Lakes; 7/27/2019-7/28/2019 (Seneca Lake): Tasted at the winery. Two and a half years in used French oak, two years in stainless steel. Definitely more pyrazine character than the Merlot. Pretty light in body for a Cabernet Sauvignon, but the same baking spices and dried fruit as the rest of the Shaw lineup.

  November 3, 2018 - Its fruity, oaky, and round. Equally a food wine as it is a wine to sip on its own. Cassis, dried cherry, supple texture, and just delicious.
