March 2, 2019 - 2017 Willi Schaefer Tasting (Classic Wine Storage, Dallas, TX): Dark mineral, almost smoky aromas with apples and just ripe pineapples. Elegant in the mouth with apples and mild pineapples accompanied by mild minerals. Slight drop-off in intensity on the midpalate. Creamy mouthfeel. Not lout or flamboyant. Rather, has a great, quiet, confident presence.

March 2, 2019 - Tasting of the entire 2017 Willi Schaefer range. Bottles double decanted and left open 3 hours the night before, reopened for 6 hours the day of the tasting and double decanted halfway through.

pale yellow color, on the nose honeysuckle, pear, white peach, apple blossoms, on the palate just as primary and reserved as the rest of the range but still showing a bit more of the depth yet to come than the others, effortless in its way, rose petals, very long finish laden with soft and rounded acids. Superb potential. Side note- for anyone still in the market for these, I do not know what production levels were in this scarce vintage, but in practical terms this is the 2017 Schaefer that is the most difficult to find in the US market.

December 31, 2018 - New Year's Eve, no TN, from memory.
Wonderful Spatlese: elegant if restrained nose, with floral and lightly smoky elements, but ripe fruit too. Very sharp palate, with the sweetness almost not noticeable. Long lemon sorbet finish.
