Community Tasting Notes 3

  • GArpaia Likes this wine:

September 3, 2022 - Med lemon. Med+ intensity. Mineral lift, lemon rind, nuts, brioche, dried flowers, toasted notes. Reminds me of a flat champagne. Dusty. High acidity. Dry. Medium body. 13% abv. Med+ finish. Oxidative.

    NB:
Field blend of Semillon Blanc, Semillon Gris, Palomino, Chenin Blanc and Muscat d’Alexandrie, the name refers to ‘the footpath’ and is one of South Africa’s most remote vineyards, a 1.4 hectare site planted on their own rootstocks between 1900 and 1928, which are picked together and fermented together in old wooden casks.

January 12, 2021 - Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of light lemon colour, with wide watery rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium intensity aromas of citrus fruit of lemon, floral notes of acacia, green fruit of green apple, sweet spice of ginger, mineral notes of stony and wax, maturity notes of hay. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium (+) acidity, the wine has medium alcohol, with medium body and medium intensity flavours of citrus fruit of grapefruit and lemon, green fruit of green apple, floral notes of acacia, dairy notes of cream. The wine has a medium finish.
Conclusion: Very good quality South African white blend with a reasonably intense nose showing good complex aromas, with the citrus and apple notes, supplemented with floral and sweet spice, with a nice minerality wrapping up. On the palate the wine has nice acidity, lively and vibrant, with decent concentration in flavours and a fair length on the finish. It is ready to drink now but can further develop for another 4-6 years.

September 15, 2019 - First time for me.
Started out a little light and unfocused. With time it gained volume and more precision. Ended very fresh and tight with lovely floral elements.
    Needs time
