    July 2, 2021 - A light and slightly funky Syrah. A bit of initial refermentation on the tongue, but a nice bright fruitiness balanced with acidity and a lasting tinginglyness that is part tannin part alcohol. Four years of bottle age I think has tamed it a bit and its drinking well now and working well as a summer BBQ red. On the whole, a decent to good wine.

    August 25, 2020 - Lots of dark red fruit on the nose, but packaged in a structured rhone style syrah (vs. some of the more jammy shiraz) on the nose and palate. Nice balance between the tannin and acidity with medium finish. Can go a few more years in the bottle...

    June 2, 2019 - Imagine all the things you like about a meaty, brooding, inky syrah.

    Then lighten it by half (but still keep all the essence), and introduce a razor-sharp sourness that makes it approachable as a PnP and just ridiculously easy to drink.

    Nose: iron & red fruit.

    Palate: game (just a hint but it's there), sour cherries, cranberries, some flowers and herbs.

    I can't get past a lot of BC syrah being too plush/soft (I assume from heavy handed oaking and filtering), so this is really a great alt-syrah to have in the cellar.

    No palate fatigue involved at all -- amazing!
