    March 1, 2024 - Very Thin for a syrah

September 24, 2023 - Interesting nose of funky game, earth, gravel and creosote/asphalt. Similar on the palate initially featuring a lot of funk and game. In the mid palate transitions to a very dominating bitter edge of used up coffee grounds. Unfortunately buries all other flavors and leaves an unpleasant finish. Did not improve despite aerating for over 2 hours.

Very disappointing to have such promise only to end poorly. I don't mind the funk at all and adds a unique character. The finish suggests excessive or poor extraction. Not too dry in terms of the amount of tannins. Just that the tannins that are there is distractingly bitter. It's possible this wine will improve in 10 years as some of the tannins polymerize and fall out, but a relatively poor showing today. This will be my last Reynvaan purchase after a series of disappointments with this producer.

July 23, 2023 - Double blind. Wonderful black fruit, iron, olive and tapenade. Flavors of tapenade, black fruit and pepper. Full-bodied and well-balanced. There's a good bit of barnyardy funk mixed in as well. In this group, easy to pick out as WA syrah, and my initial guess was Cayuse. (DR)

April 22, 2023 - Amazing the difference in the two bottles of this. Popped the cork and left it out for a couple of hours before going to HMC's for dinner. Classic barnyard funk on the nose, it smooths out over 2-3 hours. Full bodied but lighter red garnet in the glass. While not my style as it comes across as way too savory, I can appreciate the pure Wash St. fruit for what it is. A pretty nice wine 3-4 hours of air, in......glad I got to try one more as the donkey's ass in the last one, was a real struggle....lol. Looking back, I can def say it was tremendously 'flawed'.

April 18, 2023 - No sweaty donkey ass in this bottle.
Nose was slightly more muted than I would prefer, but we might not have given it time to open up completely.
Still, aromas of plummy fruits and some savory elements, a touch of funk but barely perceptible in this bottle.
On the palate very approachable and drinkable. Big and round plummy spiced fruit, olives, savory herbs and meaty. Overall delicious and probably was consumed more quickly than any wine we have had in awhile. (I meant to save some for science but no luck)
