March 23, 2024 - Excellent wine. Felt a little lighter than the terry hoage we had earlier in the night.

March 10, 2024 - Beautiful bouquet as soon as opened. Plum/ cherry mix on the nose with hints of vanilla & leather. Not a heavy red but still full bodied. Started off with a dry finish, but mellowed as it breathed. Smooth on the pallet with just a small amount of zing on the sides of my tongue. Excellent with many softer cheeses as well as all the hard ones.

January 27, 2024 - Definitely Grenache heavy - sour cherry candy, lighter weight, good acidity and tone.

January 27, 2024 - Pnp. Violets on the nose. Blackberries, black cherries, plum and dried spices. Dark, ripe, concentrated and smooth with full body. Good balance with silky tannins and a long finish.

January 17, 2024 - My review of February, 2020 is confirmed. This wine is spectacular. While you can never go wrong with any year of Clos des Papes, for whatever particular reason, this year of 2017 is just hitting it on all cylinders.

December 5, 2023 - Short decant. Sweet, concentrated, very lively red fruit (cherry, red plums). Some flinty mineral notes. Lovely delicate tannins; lighter in body as a Châteauneuf. So young. (@Kelly’s)

November 13, 2023 - Aerated, then let it slow ox in glass for almost 2hrs. This is a very soft, Grenache-dominated wine. It’s surprising with a blend of 45% Grenache, 40% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah and the rest rounded out with other CdP grapes. The almost extreme softness and even sweetness are what throw me off. Red fruits, herbs and iron. I liked it, but it’s not in my Rhône wheelhouse. I grabbed some pate I happened to have for the second half of glass. It went well—needed the pate’s kick. I’m going to have the next bottle around the New Year. We’ll see how that goes.
