April 22, 2023 - Still great. Bright red fruit and minerality for days.
Sorry I’ve only got one left!
February 21, 2023 - Tasted alongside the '15 over two days (both purchased at an auction). Similar in profile with red fruit (cranberry/raspberry), flowers, and a bit of crushed stone. Vibrant fruit, with more tannic bite than the '15 but similarly balanced acid. This seemed the more structured of the two bottles and needed an hour or so to open up. Delicious.
September 15, 2021 - Cranberry, raspberry, mineral, lots of acid, lighter than I expected for a Mourvèdre but very fresh and zippy. Better with food and even better a few days later.
June 13, 2021 - From a magnum. (I brought this one)
Pretty primary compared to some D & R Mouvedre. Black cherry, raspberry, strawberry, blueberry. Of course it is still Mouvedre so there's a lot of non fruit stuff too. Rosemary, thyme, wet stone. Full bodied, big tannins. Drink now; but can also benefit from further aging.
May 2, 2021 - Outstanding over 4 days. Brilliant crystalline raspberry and limestone
January 30, 2021 - Red cherry, strawberry, plum, and a little of each of flower and earth. Medium acidity and a pleasantly tannic bite to finish. Would recommend a long decant as this one really opens up after a few hours.
December 9, 2020 - Opened in honor of the D&R magnum library release of this bottling. Classic Hardy Mourvèdre. Vibrant fruit, nice zippy acidity. Full of blueberry and raspberry, with a bit of stewed strawberry on the mid-palate. Delicious and easy to down but has many years left.
April 22, 2020 - ** (plus)
PnP. Very pleasant. Smooth, medium body, goes down very easily. Interesting flavor.
11/1/20:
Decanted 2 hrs this time. And it needed it! This is still very young, but with very good length and freshness, nice balance. Liked it a lot. So I'm upping the score. Don't ask me why the first one was good with no decant, I don't know.
April 5, 2020 - If Jolly Rancher made a black cherry candy it would taste something like this. Lots of ripe black cherry, medium plus amount of acidity. This is all primary with none of the mustiness mourvedre can sometimes bring. Very tasty.
March 12, 2020 - First red wine since my surgery...I would have been happy to just smell it. The aromatics were intoxicating. Red fruit, cinnamon, orange zest, wet stone, worn leather, moist dirt and flowers all together and one by one. Bright on the palate, precise at first, it fanned out on the finish to echo the nose.
