April 16, 2021 - really good ,open for about one hour and improve later.

March 9, 2021 - Subsequent notes on this wine from a year ago. Deep, dark, reddish-purple garnet in color bordering on opaque. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe dark fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries, plums & cassis with overtones of floral & earthy/dusty notes, some anise, mint & herbs, spices, minerals, dark cocoa & a hint of vanilla in the background. Full to medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, lush, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, herbs, earthy, cocoa, minerals & a hint of vanilla. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but needs & should continue to develop further with additional aging.

February 18, 2021 - Full body and finish doesn’t quit. Still young and fruity. Wait a few years for the next bottle.

December 30, 2020 - Very nice bordeaux blend with some grip and nice finish. Good value

  • La Cave d'Argent Likes this wine: 92 points

December 20, 2020 - L'Ecole No. 41's 2016 Ferguson Vineyard bottling is an opaque crimson blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 6% Malbec, aged for 22 months in French oak (50% new). This particular bottle was Vinturi-decanted and serially sampled after three hours of aeration. Loaded with blackberries, crème de cassis, dark chocolate, espresso, tree bark and black olive tapenade, it is a full-bodied, structured red that is supported by fresh acidity, plentiful firm tannins, seamless alcohol (14.5%) and a judicious aliquot of spicy oak. With excellent mid-palate density and a lengthy finish, this is set up for success. A bit more time in the cellar will remedy some of the angularity that the wine currently possesses. A higher score may be merited in the future. Drink 2023-2031.
