September 13, 2020 - What a surprise based on many of the reviews. This bottle was all the best CT tasting notes and comments rolled up in one. Beautifully mature Savennieres. fantastic!

December 4, 2019 - Chenin to a T. Even better to my tastes, Savennieres. Delicious all around. Hitting matuity very nicely. DO give it some air for extra dimension and body. More restrained with out a decant. Served with N. Indian cuisine & Nepalese delights. Very enjoyable! Rave worthy even. Bravo.

November 26, 2018 - This was an advanced, oxidized bottle and marginably drinkable (my SO would argue that it was undrinkable) and I had about a half glass as a science experiment. This had bruised apple flavors that were only tolerable due to the strong vein of acidity. I'm a huge fan of old chenin but judging from many of the reviews on here, I don't think this ages like Huet or even Joly and this bottle would certainly confirm that.

March 9, 2018 - Pretty on the nose, with some nuttiness and honey showing the pleasant side of oxidation, but with more unpleasant oxidative character on the palate.

July 12, 2017 - Tasted blind. Quite dark, with a singular nose of brown butter, plant stem, and wool. Palate is rich, nutty, caramelly, and a bit funky. Unusual and pretty delicious.

(Closel Savennieres "Clos du Papillon") Nose of mineral, almond, green tea, mint and hay/straw. Slightly muted. So young but incredibly opulent on the palate. Huge pear, tangerine fruit along with serious white wine tannins. Incredible structure. Huge finish that is almost like a red wine. Hints of pink peppercorn linger. This will easily last thirty years.
