January 24, 2022 - 2017 Terroir Al Limit Terroir Històric showed the purity of ripe red fruits and spices. The developing Priorat was clear and pale ruby in colour without any sediments. Aromas of strawberry jam, ripe red cherry and smoke were accompanied by farmyard, liqourice and Oriental spices.

The mouthfeel was dry and medium-full-bodied, complemented with medium levels of acidity and grainy tannin. There were flavours of kirsch, rosemary herbs, tobacco and wet stone minerals in a medium spiced finish. The 14.5% alcohol matched the ripe red fruits and generous spices. The empty bottle weighed 555 grams. It was among the lightest Priorat that I had tasted. Tasters expecting an opulent texture (read deep colour and heavy extraction) or an intense mineral impact should probably look for another label.

From the information on the winery website, the vine age ranges from 35 to 50 years old. The blend is composed of 75% Garnatxa and 25% Cariñena. Instead of the famed llicorella of the region, the soil is mostly composed of clay and schist. The must is fermented naturally on whole cluster. The wine is matured in cement tank for eight months. The winemaker describes it as the most basic and beautiful Priorat unplugged, as the wine sees neither heavy-handed extraction nor maturation in oak barrels. About 20,000 bottles are produced.

October 24, 2021 - The Historic is one of our go-to wines — spicy and smooth garnacha that is versatile enough to accompany almost anything.

March 3, 2021 - So much lighter than the Priorate I've tried and this saddens me, although acidity is excellent and the wine has good grip
