August 3, 2021 - Excellent wine with real depth and complexity. Tannins have moderated. This has a sort of chocolate mole note to it. Went great with smoked BBQ ribs.
July 27, 2019 - Developed some nice tertiary characteristics, brick, earth, tobacco, to complement the primary flavors of dark berries. Not much finish, though, and the high ABV has become more sharp and harsh as the intensity of fruit has aged away.
April 14, 2019 - Spice, blueberry, and later, black pepper flavors. Went well worth lamb chops.
July 4, 2018 - Very good, but the tannins here are still firm.
January 6, 2018 - Dark, thick, syrupy liquid with muted, earthy flavors and overpowering heavy mouth feel. Cork broke in half when opened. Not as good on second day. A bit past prime. I'm going to drink up.
November 21, 2016 - Berry flavors, a little too syrupy
November 13, 2016 - This was an experiment in aging - Petite Sirah not known as particularly long.
Cork was solid - in good shape. Wine was not corked.
Dark, opaque garnet/brick.
Nose: alchohol, maybe the slightest hint of fruit.
Palate: dry, dusty, vinegar, far over the hill. Did not improve with time.
June 28, 2016 - Enjoyed but not a rock star wine.
Decanted about an hour. Inky/ruby. Enjoyable and integrated but a bit muted black and blue fruit. Nice finish. Pleasant but not outstanding. May have expected a bit much.
March 18, 2016 - Auction purchase. PnP, perfect cork.
Petite Sirah light. Black fruit, a fleeting hint of raspberry. Some acidity and tannin still going on, but not a lot to get excited about. A bit disappointing.
March 13, 2016 - Doesn't feel like this is fading at all. The cherry cola fruit is plentiful and so are the tannins- even with a 3 hour decant. Still going strong and great with leg of lamb. Great structure and the bold red and blue fruit make it a winner. Drink now-2020.
