November 14, 2020 - This filled out nicely after a few hours in the decanter, though it should have been given even more time. Very fresh-tasting, with lots of tertiary earthy and green notes, and tons of mineral flavor.

October 5, 2020 - This is benchmark aged Pauillac at a perfect spot for drinking now. Black fruit is still lively and expansive, but the wine has taken on tobacco, truffle, and old book qualities. Silky on the palate and medium-to-long finish. Very Pichon Lalande in its elegance.

June 11, 2020 - DR T̶u̶e̶s̶d̶a̶y Thursday Night Zoom Tasting (Vancouver, BC): Drank blind next to the 1983 Ducru-Beaucaillou. Outstanding nose exploding with cedar and graphite. This screams Pauillac right from the start. Leather, rich black current, and a touch of bell pepper. Softer on the palate yet still retains it's charm. Classic and elegant and exactly what I love about old Claret. A fantastic bottle that was firing on all cylinders tonight. No need to wait on these

May 9, 2020 - Almost two years since the last bottle. The wine is in a perfect place. Agree with the notes of the last taster.

May 8, 2020 - First bottle of red after returning home from a long business trip during the pandemic. 37 years at its best, and still youthful. Brownish rim, very pronounced nose. Still some silky tannin keeping it alive. Leather, chocolate, black truffle, earthy, mineral. Very long finish.

May 2, 2020 - Ruby. Lots of tobacco notes, a lot more Paulliac power than the floral perfume I associate with Pichon. Lovely balance, all pleasure with a good acidity. Fruit is fading but enjoy the last remnants like a great sunset. Showing exactly how it should be at 37 years.

March 27, 2020 - Really good bottle. Everything well integrated. Mid ruby, wonderful Pichon perfume of lily, jasmine, soil, plum, cassis, touch of leather. No Paulliac has that seductive and feminine nose. Palate is so good without any heaviness or noticeable tannins. Lovely bright fruit still in a medium/full body but fantastic length. Was drinking perfectly and is a firm family favorite! Gone a bit mad over the years buying 83 Pichon but the QPR is off the charts. Different from the 82 but certainly not inferior.
