January 23, 2020 - Nestarec is up there with the most cultish of natural wine and tiniest of allocation. Last year, I tried his white Forks & Knives. I really didn’t like it. It seemed dead and mid- ferment. But the red here (all Pinot), is so incredibly alive. It’s spiritual. The aromas jump at you - bright red fruits and a heavy dose of rocky minerals. And cooked, smoked, agave. And iodine - the smell of your hands after cracking open red lobster. And raging acid. Ok, Nestarec, ok.

November 25, 2019 - Interesting presentation -- with a bottle cap! On the lighter side, but lively, light fruit.

October 23, 2019 - Smells like VA and crab apples. Tastes like it too. And smells like something is living in it.

July 7, 2019 - Medium ruby in the glass. Nice aromas of red fruit and a bit of funk combined. Pretty generic on the palate with an out-of-sync acidity. No depth whatsoever. I would say this is a glou glou wine, but the balance doesn't complement that statement. Medium finish. Beyond the label, this is pretty unmemorable. Going to stick to his whites from now on.

February 16, 2019 - Fun nose of fresh berries (raspberries, strawberries, huckleberries), grapes (red table), some barnyard, earth, hints of horseradish, vegetation, and minerals. Tart cherry, red cherry, underripe strawberries, earth, a hint of leafy vegetation, and whiff of hops on the palate. A little spritzy. Tart acidity, maybe a bit sour, fine tannins, moderate finish. I don't drink "natural" wines very often, but this was a fun wine in that style. Now that I think about it, I bet some sour beer aficionados would really go for this.
