February 15, 2019 - This had a little more backbone and some good fruit to go along with it. At it’s peak and was a close second in the vertical with the ‘06 & ‘07.

December 30, 2017 - This was very good. Still on the front end of the apex. Complex, aromatic, textural.

November 18, 2017 - Decanted and used an aerator. Lush, silky flavors of black cherry, anise, and perfectly integrated oak. Medium plus length finish. Second glass better than the first. Wanted more. In my top five tasted of the year.

March 11, 2017 - Owen Roe DuBrul Vineyard Vertical Tasting (My House): Wine of the Night! Another vintage that I opened 2 bottles for, due to the overwhelming love from all guests. Both bottles were absolutely stunning! Lush, silky, full-bodied, long finish...this wine has it all. Big cassis fruit, touches of black tea, oak, vanilla, and baking spices. Lonnnng finish of dark chocolate that matched our dark chocolate brownies. Can't say enough good things about this wine! It's at prime drinking right now, and is another 20+ year wine, in my opinion.

December 25, 2016 - Aromas rush out as soon as the cork is pulled, challenging to wait for a light decant.
Just as giving once in the glass. Aromas of cassis, mocha, dark cherry and blackberry liquor are refined and supported by suede, cigar box, vanilla, hot stone, pencil shavings and herbs.
On the palate this wine is in a great place! The fine grained tannins are perfectly integrated, ripe and developed. Acidity remains lively giving this wine great structure and providing the ability to continue to age. Flavors of dark cherry, cassis currant and blackberry with vanilla, tobacco, leather, dried flowers, sage and bay leaf, mineral, rich mocha, caramel and toffee with a hint of light baking spice. Long through the complex and opulent finish.

This wine is in its peak. A compelling and refined bottle from one of the absolute best vineyards in Washington State, and one that Owen Roe has done well.
