September 17, 2020 - Pnp on a week-day with low expectations as the bottle was not in good condition with a mid shoulder fill. After removing the usual soaked cork with the brown layer on the top, I was surprised to smell an entirely clean Bordeaux. Transparent garnet with very little browning, very dry and fresh, initially still showing some nice remaining fruit, with more air the acidity becomes more dominant as the fruit fades a bit but we enjoyed finishing the entire bottle.
Don't see this at a 90+ as some of the recent reviews but one needs to bear in mind that 73 was one of the poorest Bdx vintages in the 70s, saved perhaps by the fact that 72 was even worse, and this Pichon Baron was rated by Wine Spectator somewhere in the higher 70 range upon release. For this, this is really a very nice traditional claret (on its last leg).

December 1, 2019 - Served blind, a good bottle, light brown, old mature Claret nose, minty, still has fruits but do not decant this, open it & enjoy it over 2 hours as it faded away, no one guessed 70s most thought a Bordeaux from 80s/90s
    92

September 10, 2014 - Amazingly well aged pauillac!
it was few months ago that I enjoyed this wine and it still brings back memories of classic claret nose that felt very young.
i will buy this once again in a heartbeat!

August 23, 2013 - Opened in celebration of friend's upcoming 40th birthday. Although saturated, cork came out intact and in decent condition. Rich color with very slight brown edging. pleasant bouquet of leather and pencil shavings. Although fruit was fading, very well-structured. Overall, a wonderful treat befitting the company with whom it ewas shared.

May 19, 2012 - Decanted and then drank. Gently bricked red. Nose of plum, candied cherries and a hint of pineapple. The basic character is one of sweet red fruits -- cherries, raspberries and strawberries. There is some plum at the finish. A bit tart with a medium long finish. A treat from TJGS' wonderful cellar.
